In Naburn there's a children's play area behind the Village Hall and a bustling pub with beer garden for the warmer months. York Marina has a shop for the basics and the licensed Waterfront Café with, as its name suggests, wonderful river views, offering meals and snacks during the day, and during the evenings over the summer.

Perhaps instead you'd prefer to pack up a picnic and take a walk down to Naburn Lock to watch the boats and the world go by? Or bring your bikes and cycle off into the countryside for some blissful peace and quiet? Or head into the City of York for some amazing shopping, great museums, theatres and art galleries, and an array of restaurants to suit every palate? Or maybe you're planning a day at York Races - it's only 15 minutes by bike!

The Sustrans Railway Path and Cycle Route runs right next door to Millbridge Farm for easy cycle access to York, or there are local buses (click here for the timetable) from the bus stop just across the road by the marina. Another option is to cycle or drive the couple of miles to York Designer Outlet (and possibly do just a little bit of shopping!) park in the free cycle or car parks and take the Park & Ride bus service which runs every 10 minutes into York.
